Ardeshir Pourkeramati is a jazz saxophonist, composer, and educator. Having studied with saxophone wizard Stan Karp, he draws inspiration from a wide variety of music, and his versatility has lead him to playing in different musical styles and genres. Aside from being a sideman in different projects, he also leads his own group where they play a lot of his original compositions.

Besides performing, Ardeshir also plays a role as an educator. He has experience teaching privately as well as in classroom settings, from beginning to university level. He has a passion of exploring different teaching methods, especially in the jazz and improvisational idioms.

Ardeshir holds a bachelor of jazz studies from Capilano University where he studied with Brad Turner, Steve Kaldestad, Jared Burrows, and Bill Coon. He also played in the university’s premier big band where he got to share the stage with many guest artists including Ambrose Akinmusire, Maria Schneider, and Donny McCasslin. Ardeshir was one of nine members of the 2017 Ottawa Jazz Youth Summit, where they performed for the jazz festival as well as Canada’s 150th celebrations.
